The patient is first treated with the Thermage laser for skin tightening, then returns two weeks later for Mesotherapy treatment. Mesotherapy is used to dissolve the fat pockets in the jowls, nasolabial folds, below the eyes and beneath the chin. According to Dr. Riopelle, Treating an aging face with just Thermage often leaves the patient with a tighter face, but does not address the fat beneath. By combining the two procedures, we are producing much better results than with each procedure on its own. The best age range for good results with this Thermage/Mesotherapy non surgical face lift is for persons between 35 and 45 years old, however, Dr. Riopelle says that �people up to age 65 or even older can get a great result depending on how well they have taken care of their skin and with some luck from their genetics. What is Thermage? Thermage is skin tightening laser that uses a unique form of radiofrequency energy to allow the physician to tighten loose or sagging skin, producing a kind of "lift" without an incision or recovery time. With the gentle touch of the device tip, the surface of the skin is cooled, while the deeper tissue is altered by radiofrequency heating. This not only tightens deeper skin tissue, but jumpstarts new collagen production, which occurs over several weeks. While Thermage is not an exact substitute for a surgical facelift, it can be used successfully on patients with a moderate amount of sagging skin and wrinkles. What is Mesotherapy? Mesotherapy may be an alternative to liposuction for some patients since it is a non-surgical technique for spot weight reduction, sagging chins and eyelids, and for eliminating cellulite from heavy thighs, abdomen, hips and buttocks. The treatment requires a series of micro-injections containing a mixture of drugs, the main ingredient being phosphatidylcholine, which has been shown to dissolve fat. Mesotherapy requires a series of individual treatments and the amount varies depending on the size and area being treated. Dr. Riopelle is also experienced with Contour Threads for thread face lift.
